Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red with a vibrant purple edge. The nose reveals ripe black cherry, blueberry and cassis, lifted by hints of pepper, cedar and dark spice. The palate is plush and generous, with layers of dark fruit, cocoa and vanilla bean. Basket pressing provides a finer tannin profile, lending the wine elegance and finesse while retaining richness and Barossa power. A silky texture carries through to a long, balanced finish.

Winemaking

Harvested from select Barossa Shiraz vineyards at peak ripeness, the fruit was destemmed and fermented in open fermenters. Following primary fermentation, the wine was basket pressed – a traditional method that gently extracts juice while minimising harsh tannins. Malolactic fermentation was completed in French oak hogsheads, with 30% new oak. The wine was matured for 18 months before bottling to showcase both fruit vibrancy and oak complexity.

Wine Critic Reviews

Vino Masters Score: 96/100 ★★★★★ Cracking wine from a cracking vintage! Drink now to 2036.

Deep crimson with a dense purple core. Dark and chocolate-driven. Raisin, blueberry, blackberry and darker berry fruits lead, with liquorice, warm spice and a savoury edge.
Rich and savoury, with real concentration. Dark chocolate and ripe berry fruit sit at the centre, carried by fine-grained tannins. Despite the weight, there is excellent freshness and balance. Mocha and spice build through the mid-palate. The flavours carry seemingly forever.
A deep, full-flavoured Barossa Shiraz. Impressive balance, fine tannins and outstanding persistence. This one has the goods.

Vintage Report

The 2024 Barossa vintage produced Shiraz of vibrant colour, expressive fruit and fine structure. A dry start to the growing season and warmer conditions towards harvest helped shape wines with generous flavour and depth. Basket pressing emphasises fruit purity and textural finesse, bringing richness and balance to a classic Barossa style, with immediate appeal and the structure to develop with careful cellaring.
